The objects in this chapter demonstrate the contributions of mechanical engineers to broader scientific inquiry, communications and information processing, research and development in engineering sciences, and medicine. Over the past 150 years, mechanical engineers have increasingly drawn from the sciences, while also providing important contributions to scientific theory that improved human lives.
