Implementation of Selective Error Protection on SPIHT Coefficients for Wireless Visual Network


These day, large amount of data are produced from modern image sensors. Consequently, a huge amount of the data is produced for images captured by the sensor. The used of modern visual sensors in wireless visual sensor network will result in large amount of data transmitting across the network. With errors occurred to the data, retransmission from the sensor node is required, which is costly in term of energy consumption. Selective error protection and compression technique is implemented that will compress the images. Then part of compressed data are protected with the used of error correction coding. This allows the compressed data to have some tolerance to errors. Besides, it also reduced the power consumption of communication systems by decreasing the number of data retransmission is needed. This paper discuss on the implemented selective error protection on SPIHT coefficients for used in wireless visual network.
