Denoising-Based Cascaded Algorithms for Smoothing of Different Level Additive White Gaussian Noise-Corrupted Spectra


Savitzky-Golay (SG) smoothing filter is a reliable smoothing method for spectroscopy spectra. In this paper, Denoising based Cascaded Savizky-Golay (DBCSG) algorithm is proposed to increase signal to noise ratio (S/N) of the SG smoothing filter. The proposed algorithm consists of three types namely, Denoising based Cascaded Savizky Golay-Binomial Sliding Window (DBCSGBSW), Denoising based Cascaded Savizky Golay-Triangular Sliding Window (DBCSG-TSW), and Denoising based Cascaded Savizky Golay-Rectangular Sliding Window (DBCSG-RSW). Different levels of additive white gaussian noises (AWGN) are added to reference spectra and processed it using the proposed DBCSG algorithms. The algorithms are proven to minimize the effects of the AWGN and increased S/N as compared to the SG smoothing filter.
