Equivalent Pressure Center Analysis on Configuration Design of Supercavitatevg Vehicles


The Equivalent Pressure Center (EPC) method is proposed based on dynamic model of supercavitating vehicle in this paper. Both of EPC and integrated moment for supercavitating motion in different configuration parameters are studied, which can validate the effectiveness of EPC method. Results show that well designed configuration could produce better stability and maneuverability performances, which means the location of EPC is kept close to the mass center even when the dynamic environment changes. For the vehicle model studied in this paper, analysis also indicate that the aspect ratio of supercavitating vehicle is preferred to be within 10∼15, with normalized cavitator size of 0.2∼0.4.
