Piezoelectric Materials for High Frequency Ultrasound Transducers

The most crucial component in an ultrasound transducer is a piezoelectric element in the form of a plate, disc, bar, or a beam. There are various of piezoelectric materials available to choose from when designing a single element or array transducer. The selection criteria can be determined by the piezoelectric, dielectric and elastic properties of these materials.
