Delayed cracking emerges at metallic components as a result of hydrogen diffused into the material during production as well as during operation due to corrosion processes. Proving this hydrogen-induced failure can be successful, if investigative steps are performed and analysed systematically. Combining fractography and hydrogen-analysis leads to clear results.
