The purpose of this chapter is to provide users of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPV) Section V, Nondestructive Examination (NDE) an insight into the significant Section V requirements, the NDE methods addressed therein, and the ASME Code NDE methodology applicability to Section V and other ASME book sections. This chapter also addresses when and how to use the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) Standards. The information provided in this chapter is based on the 2015 Edition of ASME Section V, dated July 1, 2015.
