Experimental Study of Interactions Between a Cavitation Bubble and a Spherical Particle near Solid Boundaries


In the present paper, the interactions between a laser-induced cavitation bubble and a spherical particle near solid boundaries are experimentally studied in detail with the aid of the high-speed camera. Firstly, the effects of presence of wall on the phenomenon are revealed in terms of the dynamics of cavitation bubbles. Secondly, depending on the direction of liquid jet during the first collapse stage, the behavior of bubble-particle interactions are categorized into three types. For each type, two examples are given to illustrate its main characteristics. Finally, the contributions of the present work are discussed with the possible future work.
