Numerical Simulation of Tip Leakage Flow and Cavitation Observation on Two-Dimensional Hydrofoil


Two-dimensional hydrofoil model of NACA0012 is chosen as the object for researching tip clearance flow in different gap width between the foil tip and the endwall by numerical simulations. The commercial computational software is applied to obtain the tip leakage flow field and analyze its variation with the different tip gap sizes. In the same time, the tip clearance cavitation observation experiments of NACA0012 hydrofoil models were carried out in cavitation mechanism tunnel of CSSRC. The cavitation inception number in different operating condition is studied in present paper.
