Hydraulics of Rotary Drilling


The purpose of the circulating system (see Figure 4-1) is to cool drill bit cutters, clean cuttings from underneath drill bits and carry them back to the surface for analysis and disposal. Downhole motors and turbines also extract power from the hydraulic system.
