Green Process for Preparing Cuprous Oxide Nanoparticles under Ultrasonic Radiation


A green environmental friendly process for preparing cuprous oxide nanoparticles was reported. In this process, cuprous oxide was prepared using Cu(OH)42− as precursor and glucose as reducing agenct in the present of dispersant under ultrasonic radiation. Spherical, well-dispersed Cu2O nanoparticles were obtained with the average size of 50 nm to 1.5 μm, respectively, with or without polyvinyl pyrrolidone as dispersant. It is noticeable that the reducing agenct is natural product, and the dispersant is an environmental friendly material. The reaction is nearly completely with less than 0.5mg∕L Cu2+ left in the waste water under ultrasonic radiation, up to the discharge standard of wastewater.
