Numerical Study on Dynamic Charging Performance of Packed Bed Using Spherical Capsules Containing N-Tetradecane


The objective of this work is the study of dynamic performance of packed bed using n-tetradecane as PCM during charging process. According to the energy balance between the capsules and coolant, a dynamic charging process model of packed bed using cool storage capsules is established. The performance of charging process is simulated using numerical method. The temperature of PCM and HTF, melting fraction and cool thermal energy releasing rate are illustrated. The influences of the inlet temperature, initial temperature and flow rate of coolant and porosity on the complete solidification and charging are also discussed.
