Design and Optimization of Triple-Band Microstrip Antenna for WiMAX Applications


The triple-band inset feed rectangular microstrip antenna for Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) application is proposed, fabricated and measured. In order to obtain the desired triple-band, the two slots are embedded in one of the radiating edges of the rectangular patch to excite the extra resonant frequencies. The placement and length of the slots are made to achieve good impedance matching at all three resonant frequencies. The antenna is optimized by ANSOFT HFSS and a prototype is fabricated according to the optimized parameters values. The simulated and measured results show that the antenna is of the triple-band characteristic for WiMAX applications.
