Analysis of the Delay of WiFi-Based DTN Ferry Mechanism


As the development of network technologies, Delay/Disruption Tolerant Network (DTN) becomes a new research hotspot, and the delay that messages suffer in DTN is a key metric indicating the DTN performance. To analyze delay in DTN, an experimental scenario that deploys DTN ferry mechanism using WiFi wireless network is built, and the delay of WiFi-based DTN Ferry Mechanism is analyzed in detail. Firstly, a model which is used to describe the delay of DTN Ferry Mechanism is proposed, and the composition of the delay is analyzed. Then based on our experimental network, the values of these delays are measured. Both the analysis and experimental results are useful in deploying the DTN ferry mechanism.
