Sliding Mode Control with Fuzzy Boundary Layer to Air-Air Missile


In this paper, we will consider designing the autopilot of an air to air missile using sliding mode control (SMC) based on fuzzy variable boundary layer. In sliding mode method, all system's states are guided toward a sliding surface through exerting a non-continuous control force on the dynamic system. This force and repeated switching produce chattering. To overcome this problem, Fuzzy control is applied to determine the boundary layer thickness. Therefore, the system is robust under various uncertainties and external disturbances.
